An ABS-CBNnews.com news states that Artex Watercolors which have been used by schoolchildren for several decades has excessive lead content.
What? The FDA only figured that out now? Why?
Lead in the watercolor products can lead to anemia, lower IQ, seizure, or coma in children...... is this one of the reasons many Filipino children are stupid?
Why did it take decades for the DFA to discover that the Artex Watercolors had excessive lead? I find this
very disturbing. While the FDA is quick to inspect (sort of) products from China for unsafe chemicals, was the FDA sleeping on the job because Artex is made in the Philippines? Please read full article below.

MANILA - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has banned Artex Fine Watercolors in the country because of the dangers that the product poses to health of children.
The FDA also ordered the seizure of the products being sold in some bookstores and shops nationwide.
The agency said the product has excessive lead content.
Artex Watercolors contain around 3,000 to 5,000 parts per million (ppm) lead, which is beyond the safe level of 90 ppm, the FDA said.
FDA Director-General Dr. Kenneth Hartigan-Go warned that too much exposure to the lead in the watercolor product can lead to anemia, lower IQ, seizure, or coma in children.
Artex Watercolors are popular products which have been used by schoolchildren for several decades.
The product manufacturer has yet to issue a statement on the FDA ban. - report from Nina Corpuz, ABS-CBN News
