Remember when Davao Mayor Rody Duterte mentioned on an interview with Ms. Jessica Sojo that there is a women-friendly jail in Davao because he respected women so much?

This is the Davao City Jail for women called “The Ray of Hope Village”, there are no cells and the girls can roam freely.

Women who delivered in this place were convicted in different crimes like possession of illegal drugs. They are free to move about the 5,400 meter jail compound, doing livelihood projects.

There are also a breastfeeding room in this place if they want to feed their child. I also cried when I knew that Children age 15 year old below can stay overnight with their mothers inside the jail.

“Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte really loves every women in Davao” one of his supporters said to our source.

“Before the Ray of Hope built, 30-40 convicted women criminal shared one cell and one toilet” said by Adoracion Avisado, a former judge and now executive directer of TJI who is involved in setting up the Ray of Hope Village.

“How can you expect to rehabilitate someone under such inhuman conditions?” he added.

Women rights activist praises this project and they are hoping that every province will build a village like this.

  1. What a wonderful progressive model. This should be expanded to include every single person in the criminal system throughout the world. Provide training and education so people can return to their lives with the skill sets they need to contribute to society in a meaningful way. This is an incentive that the Philippine people can be proud of.

  5. Mayor Duterte is the only sincere candidate for president. Puro papogi and pagwapa lang yong iba. Look at how they answer questions. Puro calculated. Hindi spontaneous.
